Serrated tips prevent the "watermelon seed" phenomenon, especially vexing with smooth scissors edges and implants. Scissors can section an IOL either in pieces or for hinged folding, facilitating explantation through a small incision. The rounded tips reduce the chances of inadvertently catching iris tissue or capsule, while the fine serrations can help prevent the IOL from slipping out of the jaws during cutting. Strong enough for acrylic IOLs. Chromium plated stainless steel, reusable.
